A Year Ago Today

A year ago today, Handyman Husband surprised me with a trip to Vegas for my 40th birthday!  (The big day is tomorrow!)  I love celebrating my family’s birthdays, but when it comes to mine, I honestly look forward to spending time with them and not having to cook!  As we get older, it’s not about us.  As a child, it is!  I will say I’ve turned my one day into a “birthday weekend” (It’s the cooking part…you know I love to cook, but it’s nice to have a break too!)  I so enjoy going down memory lane and will do so with “A Year Ago Today” series from time to time…

We stayed at the lovely Venetian Hotel!  Fantastic suite!

Walked up and down the strip!

Went for a gondola ride!

Admired the artwork!

Night life!

The flowers were amazing inside the various hotels!

And the Christmas decorations were incredible!

A true highlight was dining at Bouchon, Thomas Keller’s restaurant, which just happened to be inside The Venetian.  We ate there twice!  His famous “Chicken and Waffles” just may be a Culinary Club inspiration!  Best roasted chicken ever!  The French 75 cocktail was a definite treat too!

For my actual day, we dined at Wolfgang Puck’s “Cut” restaurant.  WOW, was it amazing!

Thank you Handyman Husband for making my 40th extra special!!!  And thank you for going down memory lane with me!

Enjoy the day and happy weekend!

P.S.  If you have the opportunity to see Cirque Dreams Holidaze, please do so!  It was an incredible show and great for kids too!  Follow me on Twitter or Instagram to see Handyman Husband in the show!
